AA Independent Press Guide Created
by UK writer Dee Rimbaud, the AA Independent Press Guide is a
writers' resource with detailed information on over 2,000 print
magazines and publishers, links to over 750 internet zines, as
well as extensive links to writers' resources and personal websites.
- Academy
of American Poets Founded
in 1934, the Academy is a nonprofit organization with a mission
to support American poets at all stages of their careers and to
foster the appreciation of contemporary poetry. The Academy administers
seven major awards—from a first-book prize through a lifetime-achievement
award—and nearly 200 College Prizes at schools across the
country. The organization also oversees several programs: Poets.org,
which was launched in 1997 and now receives nearly 400,000 unique
visitors each month; National Poetry Month (April), established
by the Academy in 1996 and now the largest literary celebration
in the world; the Online Poetry Classroom, an online resource
providing free poetry lesson plans and other tools for teachers;
the Poetry Audio Archive, a collection of nearly 500 recordings
dating back to the 1960s; and American Poet, a biannual
literary journal and magazine for members.

Unlike other sites devoted to agent listings,
Agent Query is streamlined and easy to navigate. And these web-savvy
folks have a sense of humor. "Agent Query offers the largest

writers just like you. And it's free (not because there's a catch,
but simply because not enough things in this world are free)."

American Literary Translators Association ALTA
was founded in 1978 to provide essential services to literary
translations from all languages and to create a professional forum
for the exchange of ideas on the art and craft of literary translation.

The Associated Writing Programs Since
1967, AWP has supported writers and writing programs around the
world.

Best New Zealand Poems Published
annually by the International Institute of Modern Letters, this
anthology aims to introduce readers to leading contemporary New
Zealand poets.

Biblioteca Virtual de Literatura This
virtual library, focused on literature, was conceived by Prossiga—a
Brazilian Council for Scientific and Technological Development´s
projects—and developed by PACC (Advanced Program of the
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), with support from
the Post graduation Program in Literature Science at the UFRJ.
The Spanish language-based site is for literature students, teachers
and researchers, as well as readers in general, and includes detailed
information on writers and essayists, conventional and virtual
libraries, literary associations and academies, teaching and research
institutions, bookstores and publishing houses, bibliographies,
cyber literature, competitions and awards, online periodicals,
and much more. Over 2,000 organized, commented and consistently
updated sites are included.

Laurahird.com This Edinburgh-based
site casts an international net. Its the official website of short
story writer Laura Hird, but Hird doesn't limit herself to self-promotion.
She generously shares the spotlight with a new writing showcase
(submissions welcome); a guide to the best international literary
magazines; information on writing prizes, small publishers, and
funding; film/book reviews and profiles; real people's recipes
and more. Our favorite: Tynie Talk, Hird's online version of a
pub where you can meet Edinburgh's locals.

LitLine A website for the independent
literary community.

MobyLives.com "That
whale is out there, man!" A little cetacean humor mixed with
bookish commentary makes for one splashy site. MobyLives started
in 1998 as a syndicated newspaper column about books and writers.
It appeared in newspapers, alternative news weeklies, and on–line
journals across the United States and in Canada. The website started
in March 2001.
